4/07/2011 - C12 makes it two in a row, smashes speed record
C12's success in UK Gravity Racing continues, with a comprehensive victory at the fastest course in the UK, the Cairngorm Extreme Soapbox Challenge. The course remained the same as the previous year, tight, steep mountain roads and a two mile descent through thick forest, with over 30 carts competing for the title of soapbox champions.
This year saw a general raising of standards across the field, yet none could keep pace with the new official track speed record set by C12, a hugely impressive 70mph, adding 6mph onto our own record. Steve Thomas demonstrated his expertise was not limited to composite engineering by pulling off the passing move of the weekend, a daring dart up the outside at the infamous Switch to secure victory, which can be seen here. With the confirmation that the Cairngorm race will be returning next year, we look forward to conquering the beautiful Scottish mountains again.

2/03/2011 - C12 invited to South West Composite Gateway
Steve Thomas, director of C12 Composites, was recently invited to share his expertise on "Hand laminating & prototype development techniques" at the exciting new South West Composite Gateway programme held at the City of Bristol College.
Left, Steve Thomas outlines the wet lay process involved in carbon motorbike wheel manufacture at the SWCG. The programme, running between April 2010 and December 2012, aims to promote the use of composite technology among small businesses in the West by inviting industry experts to share their wealth of knowledge.
1/08/2010 - C12 Gravity Car Breaks Speed Record
On 23rd and 24th July, the C12 Gravity Racer took part in the Cairngorm Extreme Soapbox challenge. This involves a challenging two mile course down the Ski Road, including a very tricky right/left bend near the start, sweeping curves and an overall gradient of 1:14. 32 'Carties' and soapboxes took part, including a works team from Bentley, and C12 proved the decisive winner, leading all its heats and clocking a new unofficial UK speed record of 64 mph on its penultimate run. Altogether C12 collected three trophies, for overall winner, for fastest time (the 'Flying Scotsman' award) and for the furthest distance travelled to take part in the event. It was a splendid weekend, and we plan to return next year!
